Theater For Everyone!

Theater has been at the heart of human tradition for thousands of years. Before the written language came oral tradition and story telling. It is an innate piece of all cultures and societies because it tells the story of ourselves.

The reason every child engages in imaginative play, acting out the characters, settings, and behaviors around them, is that it helps them learn about themselves and their world. This sort of "play" is one of the most valuable learning processes we have. Trying out our own identities in different ways or "trying on" another's feelings or perspective increases empathy, self-awareness, and kindness.

The art form of theater is more than learning lines and wearing a costume. It is an active exploration of ourselves and those around us.

In our youngest students, theater involves deep imaginary play and allows freedom to explore and express new concepts. the positive influence of the arts on brain development and later on academic performance is undeniable. Whether it is improving IQ by utilizing both hemispheres for learning or increasing EQ (emotional intelligence) through safe self-exploration and expression, theater enriches every child's life and learning experience...and it's just plain fun!
